Dacia Carter (she/her) is a Black woman, heart-centered educator, and a proud native of Waterloo, Iowa. Dacia brings 10 years of experience supporting youth, adults, and families of historically marginalized communities to navigate and challenge oppressive systems through relationship building, program facilitation, and on-going support. Dacia attended the University of Northern Iowa where she completed her BA in Interactive Digital Studies. In 2019, she began working in higher education, working at the University of Northern Iowa as the Retention and Mentoring Program Coordinator for the Department of Diversity, Inclusion, and Social Justice. Dacia attended the University of Pennsylvania as a Graduate student, attaining a master’s degree in Applied Positive Psychology (MAPP) in 2022. |

Currently, Dacia serves as the Associate Director of Community Partnerships and Social Justice Education at Civic House at the University of Pennsylvania and oversees the Community Engagement Internship Program (CEI) and the Community Engagement Program (CEP). She is responsible for building and maintaining partnerships with Civic House community partners and creating and facilitating social justice and community engaged curriculum. She also supervises our current student leaders who serve as Community Partner Liaisons. |
